McDonaldize it.

At work, not working.

November 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It’s a very tedious and boring time, to be sure.

How do I find motivation to do anything at work, knowing that I’ll be out of here in a month?

Anyway – this was supposed to be a poker blog. Back to the subject then. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve managed to win about 23 euros in various freerolls. I’ve even managed to turn my one 7,5 euro win into a 20 euro mini-bankroll, that, if I were using my brain, would probably get me started nicely. But that’s gone – free spin addict took over again. And boy, I needed that cold shower.

I now have 17 euro (god, I need to find a euro symbol on this keyboard…) on Unibet, and I plan to just start playing ABC TAG cash on micro stakes with it. See where that takes me. When I have enough to withdraw (I’m not a big fan of Unibetmicrogaming platform doesn’t have antes in tournaments, which I find ridiculous), I might put the money into Betson. I’m not a big fan of ongame network either, but I have an instant $25 bonus waiting for me there. Hopefully, once I clear that – I will have enough to catch a decent 100% bonus somewhere and start playing NL10. Which is what it’s all about! :-)

They took mah job!

November 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Had to happen some time. “Crisis”. Reductions. My turn.

Got my notice today. Whole one calendar month’s worth, so I’m working until the end of the year. Mixed feelings, as you can imagine. Relief, and new opportunities. Anxiousness and uneasiness. With the baby coming and all… :-)

I’m getting 4 months pay as compensation, so I have plenty of time to find something worthwhile. Any offers? :-)

Poker sucked lately, so nothing to write about. Got more important stuff on my mind.

Free spin addict.

November 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I have a confession to make.

Ever since I’ve tried online roulette (like an idiot that I am), I keep squandering all my freeroll proceeds on gambling. I could do poker gambling (playing against BM), but I do regular gambling instead.

It goes like this: I win, say, five bucks in a freeroll, and I immediately go to the room’s casino (most rooms have casino games on their sites) and I use the funds to play. Roulette or slots mostly. And I would probably feel like a complete degen by now, but I’m actually ahead thanks to this strategy.

I mean, you can’t really be behind if you’re playing with free money, but overall, I have more free money thanks to this method, not less.

It started with turning 7 euros into 30 euros at i4poker (cashed out to moneybookers, used that for my P* challenge described earlier, now over). That whet my appetite, obviously. So I continued doing it. Lost some other small freeroll winnings in a few sessions (still ahead after that).

And yesterday – made $11 in a freeroll, turned it into $22 on slots. Pure luck, I know. Still, felt good. A bit too good to be honest. Hope I don’t get slot-addicted.

Maybe it’s high time to stop doing that shit…

Cold break.

November 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I took a short mandatory break from poker last week, because I’ve had a nasty cold with fever etc. I wasn’t feeling like playing at all. I even skipped my usual forum freerolls, that were supposed to be a basis for my current challenge.

What’s a bit worrying is that although my cold is pretty much over and I feel almost completely healthy now, I still don’t feel like playing. I’ve missed yesterdays forum tourney… This isn’t getting me any closer to my $300 goal, but I don’t miss playing all that much, yet.

Maybe taking a break every once in a while is a good thing. I’ll play when I really get the urge.

Life is Live. Or something.

October 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

My first live weekend was awesome. Except I got next to no playable hands and played like a donkey.

But from a fun-poker perspective – best time I’ve had in a long long while! Met some forum buddies for the first time in real life, got shit-faced, and played poker. What more do you need.

The only downside to the whole thing is that I’ve found out that live tournaments may never be my thing. I actually like being deprived of physical tells – because that also means that I’m not giving them out. I like being on the clock all the time. And I like automatic shuffles & deals that take three seconds instead of one minute+.

Throughout the two events I was in (Fri and Sat evenings) I got TT once and AKo once, with a couple of AJo and AQo mixed in, and a low pocket pair maybe twice. That’s it. The rest of my time was just waiting for a decent hand for what seemed like (and WAS) hours and hours. Sorry, not my thing, I’m not exactly a multitasking type, but two tables with a reasonable amount of action is a minimum to even keep me interested in the game.

And the shaking hands? Don’t even get me started. After a while, I just played with my hands tucked under the table, because any pot I was in, I would instantly knock over stacks and spill drinks! :-)

All in all, the fun was great, but I’m just not ready for live yet.

Needless to say, I didn’t win anything. :-)
